Full Description:

Our day starts out with a 7:30 am pick up from your accommodation. We will then start to make our way to Jeppe’s Reef Border Post and just before the border we will go into a traditional Swazi Village. We will go on a short tour through the village and then watch an incredible song and dance performance. A tour to this traditional Swazi cultural village is a once in a lifetime experience. The Swazi people have a rich and well preserved cultural history. Our visit to this centre will introduce us to their unique culture and treat us to folk dancing and traditional music.

We will then make our way into Swaziland – a land-locked Kingdom, renowned for its friendly people, strong traditions and beautiful scenery.  We will make a coffee stop at Pigg’s Peak at a viewpoint on top of the mountain and learn about the gold mining history of the area. After this we will make our way down to Maguga Dam and then on to Ngwenya Glass Factory where we can watch the local craftsman blowing glass the old-fashioned way. This factory produces unique pieces which have found their way into collections all over the world. We will have a chance to walk around the glass shop and buy some of these incredible products as a lasting memory of this special country. Everything in the shop is made on site and utilities recycled glass. Our visit to Ngwenya Glass will be rounded off with a tasty lunch at their on-site restaurant.

After lunch we will make our way down through the Ezulwini Valley and then on to Swazi Candles where we will watch the craftsmen make candles in every size and shape imaginable. This is another unique Swazi experience and provides another opportunity to create memories of the trip and buy gifts for family and friends. After we depart from Swazi Candles, we will make our way to Mananga Border Post and head back into South Africa in the late afternoon.

A visit to this tiny country of rolling green hills and friendly, happy people will never be forgotten – in fact most visitors find it impossible not to return when they are back in the area.  Remember to have your cash and cards available to buy some of the beautiful hand-crafted products, many of which you can only find in Swaziland.
